blog info in tagiff.com e*ECAD, Inc. was a software portal company located in Santa Clara, California. It offered a variety of EDA software for creating integrated circuit design tool flows. Its purchase and delivery system provided alternative solutions to traditional software licensing models. The tools were delivered via the Internet onto the user's workstation to permit local and unrestricted use of EDA tools not unlike tool use under traditional licensing schemes. The E*ECAD system used to offer the following
Electronic design automation (also known as EDA or ECAD) is a category of software tools for designing electronic systems such as printed circuit boards and integrated circuits. The tools work together in a design flow that chip designers use to design and analyze entire semiconductor chips. This article describes EDA specifically with respect to integrated circuits. Before EDA, integrated circuits were designed by hand, and manually laid out. Some advanced shops used geometric software to
Computer aided design (CAD) is the use of computer technology for the design of objects, real or virtual. CAD often involves more than just shapes. As in the manual drafting of technical and engineering drawings, the output of CAD must convey information, such as materials, processes, dimensions, and tolerances, according to application specific conventions. CAD may be used to design curves and figures in two dimensional (2D) space; or curves, surfaces, and solids in three dimensional (3D)
John was formerly Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Nassda Corp (acquired by Synopsys). Previously, he was vice president sales for the Epic Technology Group at Synopsys, and he had been vice president domestic sales for Epic Design Technology before its acquisition by Synopsys. He also held sales management positions at ECAD, one of the companies that merged to become Cadence.
Joseph Costello is a prominent person in electronic design automation (EDA) industry. He was president and COO of SDA Systems from 1987 1988 and CEO of Cadence Design Systems, which became the largest EDA company under his tenure, from 1988–1997. In 2004, he was awarded the Phil Kaufman Award in recognition of his business contributions that helped grow the EDA industry. Joseph received his B.S. in Physics in 1974 from Harvey Mudd College. He also has a master's degree in Physics from both Yale
Windchill is an integrated suite of Product Lifecycle Management applications from PTC. In late 2008, PTC announced that Windchill had over 600,000 active maintenance paying seats. Windchill PDMLink – Manages and controls product information and processes through the product lifecycle. Windchill MPMLink– Allows design and manufacturing engineers to concurrently develop manufacturing processes and engineering designs. Windchill Supplier Management – Helps companies select suppliers and
The original Stanford University Network SUN workstation was designed to be a low cost ($10,000) personal workstation for computer aided logic design work to replace SAIL terminals. The design goal was to create a 3M computer: a 1 MIPS processor, 1 Megabyte of memory and a 1 Megapixel Raster scan Bit map graphics display. (The $10,000 price point was the fourth M — a Megapenny ). Ethernet was included. The initial workstation was designed by Ralph Gorin and then given to Andy Bechtolsheim to
